Tammy Sommerfeld is the Procurement Manager for the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA). RFTA provides commuter, tourist and paratransit services to the beautiful mountain communities surrounding Aspen, Colorado. She have been with the agency for seven years. She is passionate about transit and pursued a career with RFTA after watching their Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system come to life as a commuter. She keeps busy at work by leading procurements for all kinds of buses, construction projects and putting out whatever fires come her way. Most notably, Tammy led RFTA’s first procurement and delivery of eight (8) electric buses, which started arriving in September 2019. Tammy’s excited that RFTA was able to pass a ballot initiative in fall of 2018, and was an active member of the campaign committee. Her next procurement endeavor is a major federally funded Design-Build project for the Glenwood Springs Maintenance Facility.
Tammy is a Graduate of the 2018 American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Emerging Leaders Class and well as the 2019 RFTA Leadership Academy. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University.
