Maricarmen Tamez brings to the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado Board of Directors a combination of construction industry experience, community leadership, and a deep commitment to creating opportunities for minority- and Hispanic-owned businesses to grow and succeed.
As Community and Citizenship Director at Turner Construction, Maricarmen works at the intersection of construction, community engagement, and trade partner development. A significant part of her work is dedicated to building meaningful relationships with minority trade partners and helping businesses strengthen their capacity to compete, grow, and create long-term opportunities within the construction industry.
Maricarmen understands that supporting contractors requires more than opening the door to an opportunity—it requires understanding the individual challenges businesses face and helping connect them with the relationships, resources, and knowledge that can position them for sustainable success. She brings a personalized, partnership-driven approach to this work, taking the time to understand the goals and needs of each business and identifying meaningful ways to support their growth.
Her experience would allow her to bring both the perspective of a major general contractor and a strong understanding of the needs of emerging and minority-owned trade partners to the HCC Board. She is passionate about strengthening the connections between contractors, general contractors, industry leaders, and community organizations so that HCC members have greater access to opportunities and the relationships needed to pursue them.
Maricarmen also brings significant nonprofit and community leadership experience. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Regional Hispanic Contractors Association and Hunger Busters, in addition to supporting other nonprofit and community organizations. These experiences have strengthened her understanding of effective board service, community partnership, advocacy, and the importance of organizations that create tangible value for their members.
Her educational background further reflects the diverse perspective she would bring to HCC. Maricarmen holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Public Relations from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Design Institute of San Diego. Her combination of business strategy, communication, relationship-building, and creative problem-solving enables her to approach challenges from multiple perspectives and turn ideas into meaningful action.
As an HCC board member, Maricarmen would be committed to helping strengthen opportunities for Hispanic contractors, supporting contractor capacity-building, expanding meaningful industry partnerships, and ensuring that HCC continues to be a powerful resource and connector for its members.
A vote for Maricarmen is a vote for an engaged board member who understands the construction industry, values collaboration, and is prepared to contribute her experience, relationships, and energy toward helping HCC members and Colorado’s Hispanic contracting community thrive.
