Ismael S. Acosta

Senior Project Manager, GH Phipps Construction Companies

Hello, my name is Ismael S. Acosta, and I’m honored to submit my nomination for the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado Board of Directors.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved with my family to the Denver Metro area in 2018. I’m a multi-state Professional Civil Engineer with a master’s degree in Structural Engineering, and I’ve been working in the construction industry since 2002, with experience in civic, healthcare, industrial, high-rise, and residential construction.

Since moving to Colorado, I’ve had the opportunity to work with contractors and developers including Mortenson, Commerce Construction, and today, GH Phipps, where I serve as a Senior Project Manager. I’ve been fortunate to contribute to projects such as Firefly Autism, Shamrock Foods Project Peak, and most recently, the Anythink Nature Library.

I have experienced diversity and inclusion firsthand. My transition from Puerto Rico to Colorado came with challenges, and those experiences shaped my desire to help others have an easier path.

For the past two years, I’ve been actively involved with HCC, learning its mission and supporting the partnership GH Phipps has been building with the organization.

I’m passionate about construction, but even more passionate about creating opportunities for others. My goal is to help clear the path for Hispanic, Latino, minority, and small-business contractors—not only to enter this industry, but to grow, compete, and succeed. I want to help them navigate the process and create opportunities that I wish had been easier to find along my own journey.

I believe my experience in the field, my perspective as an engineer and construction professional, my financial acumen, and the relationships I’ve built in Colorado can bring value to HCC and its members.

If elected, I will bring energy, experience, integrity, and a commitment to building bridges between contractors, industry partners, and the broader construction community.

I want to help HCC continue growing as an organization and, more importantly, help create opportunities that open doors for the next generation of Hispanic and minority contractors.

I would be honored to serve, and I would be grateful for your support.
