Michelle Sandoval has more than twenty years of construction industry experience working for both private and public work. She has overseen small business outreach, education, mentoring, marketing, business planning and development and diversity inclusion programs for small, minority-, women- and veteran-owned businesses in the aviation, public, K12, federal, military and industrial markets. She has worked in the role of community outreach for more than 13 years for national prime contractors. She has created, implemented and overseen outreach, mentoring and training programs for diverse trade partners, workforce development, student and community engagement.

Sandoval is the new assistant director for the Denver International Airport (DEN) Commerce Hub. In this role, she works alongside the DEN team of direct reports leading business development, outreach and special projects, helping the DEN team reach new heights of impact for the community.

Prior to Sandoval’s arrival at DEN, she was the community relations liaison, marketing manager, business development for Swinerton’s Colorado division. She was pivotal in increasing Swinerton’s sublist of prequalified MWBE firms to 33 percent and was instrumental in helping the Colorado division average a 30 percent diversity spending over the past seven years that combines both public and private work.

Sandoval is currently president of the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado (HCC) board of directors. The HCC is a non-profit organization that supports small businesses in the construction industry. She has been strategic in streamlining the organization’s processes, rebranding the organization’s communications and bringing together community resources and network organizations to help better the small business community.

Sandoval volunteers in her local community with various organizations that include the HCC, HCC Contractor Academy education committee, Society of Marketing Professionals, Black Construction Group, Society of American Military Engineers and AGC Colorado Diversity Committee. She also serves as a panelist and leader in multiple other organizational efforts.

Sandoval holds a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and social services from the University of Puget Sound. She has received a professional certificate from Colorado State University in construction management, graduated from the University of Denver/Latino Leadership Institute, and received a certificate from the University of South Florida with a focus on equity, diversity and inclusion.
